Just so that it goes in the list archive if anyone searches it : DHCP with spoofed MAC address does not do the trick. After 24 hours (roughly not accurately timed) even with a DHCP lease I cannot access internet anymore, (not even my first hop). It seems the home gateway authenticates through 802.1x authorisation over wired connection with the ONU (discovered that by sniffing packets between Home gateway and the ONU ) , and if that authorisation doesn't come through the traffic is blocked after a while. I do NOT know if this traffic blocking after a while is enforced by KDDI Hikari One (optical fiber provider) or by the ISP ( auone.net in my case). Regards, Quentin
