TLUG,
Just wondering...
If I make a text file on my computer, and I look at the permissions and
information, it says "Owner: dave - Dave Gutteridge".
I'm on Ubuntu, so I see this by right clicking on the file and selecting
"Properties", and looking under the "Permissions" tab.
Is this information in any way attached to the file? Specifically, if I
upload it to the interweb, and someone downloads it on their computer,
does it still say "Owner: dave - Dave Gutteridge"?
Or is there any other information that gets stuck to the file that can
identify it's source?
I hope not, because I kind of feel weird about my name getting stuck
to... well... I don't know what, exactly, but I'd like the default to be
that my name isn't attached to files.
Hopefully the owner thing is just a local designation, but can someone
put my mind at ease as to what the deal is?
Thanks for any advice.
