Re: [tlug] The Android Has Landed

Nikolay,
Cool :) I got mine too yesterday.
Nice!

Maybe it's a bit too integrated -- you have to import your phone book
to Gmail too. But I guess I can live with that.
For me this was a plus. I already had a Gmail account with most of my
contacts in it, so it was a small matter to include the odd number from
my phone that wasn't already listed.
Also, this meant that, unlike times in the past when I've changed
phones, all my contact information was ready to go as soon as I got my
phone. All I had to do was log into my Google account on the walk from
Sakuraya to Shibuya station, and I was ready to go.

Now let's see how long I can last before I (jail)break it :)
I'm sure you'll be popular on this list if you do. I'm still a little
unclear as to what benefit would come with jail breaking the phone, so I
don't think I'll be doing it anytime soon.
Other notes:

The Android market has some good stuff, but is clearly a few steps behind the variety available with Apple's iTunes store (or whatever it is for the iPhone).
One thing clearly needed is a solid Japanese dictionary. I'd love to see
something like "Denshi Jisho" tailored for Android. I found an app that
accesses the ALC web site dictionary, but the interface is pretty weak.
