Not necessarily. I *can* read the code but I usually don't and my employer 
doesn't pay me to fix problems in the O/S, anyway. However, there are 
plenty of other people in the world who *do* read code and their answers 
to common questions/problems are usually just a Google away.

So even if you, yourself, don't read the code, you're still better off 
working with code that *can* be read because there's usually someone 
around with the same problem and a lot more time on their hands.
