Hmm.. i don't think so. IMHO defensive programming is something every programmer should employ. One can never forsee what the future will bring and how the user will use the software. And in my experience, good programmers will actually do it this way. As for TDD, i know of only one company who does it, while all others i know of write test cases aposteriori, often only post-mortem.
