These are pictures of my KIDS we're talking about here ;-) No but point taken- I considered doing dyndns a while back but actually I'd like to grow the site- I'm serious about setting up something to combat Facebook. Also, I'm hosting mail for a lot of people right now so downtime might be an issue.Yea, this wouldn't work well for hosting a mail server. Besides the downtime, many receiving mail servers employ a wealth of anti-spam techniques that liberally blacklist most sources. I just use Google Apps (for your domain) and point the MX records to Google. This way mail is sure to get through and be received even if my server is unreachable. And if you're paranoid about Google seeing your mail you could use Enigmail through Gmail's POP/IMAP/SMTP interfaces.I'm not actually sure how long the downtime is when the IP changes because my IP changes quite infrequently and the system auto-corrects the problem before I've noticed. In theory, the maximum downtime would be the time between IP check script runs + the DNS TTL value assuming that the client side DNS respects that TTL. I donated to everydns so my TTL can be as low as 120s (I think the default is 3600s) and if the IP check script is run by cron every minute then the maximum downtime could be as low as 180s.How long is your downtime usually when DNS is switching?--Kyle
