Well, yes, I realize that some of my money is going to NTT no matter
what, as they retained ownership of the wires, so there's no
completely getting around them.  But at the moment I just pay a
monthly... what is it?  Y2,000 to them for their ownership of the
wires, and then I pay... it was Yahoo, but I guess now it's become
SoftBank? - for everything else.

That's encouraging.  They sure wouldn't have done anything outside the
rule book back in the eighties.

How about for uploads?  I upload a fair number of videos to YouTube
and that could go over 30GB (up) per month.

I haven't had any trouble with Yahoo/Softbank about this, but again,
my traffic is heavier uploading than downloading (which is the sole
reason I'm thinking it would make sense to go with glass fiber, since
otherwise things are working well-enough as they are).
