David, Darren, Christian, Thanks for responding. Sweet! All the suggestions worked, so I have the luxury of choice. For now, I went with Darren's one-liner method because that way I can put the command into the Gnome menu without having to store additional script files elsewhere. However, I can think of other situations where putting the commands into a script could be more desirable, so I'll bank that for later. Thanks for the great tips and examples! -- Dave M G
