Dear Tokyo LUG,First of all let me send greetings to all of you on behalf of the Beijing GNU/Linux. We're indeed not so far away from one another.I was dropping by to let you know that the GNOME foundation is sponsoring some goodies for the release of GNOME 3.0 to whoever organize a launch party. The software just having reach feature freeze we're still working on the marketing materials to help with the show, but one can already download LiveCD images to run GNOME 3 without having to build it or affect his own system. The release date is schedule for April 6 and all the information about goodies can be found here: http://live.gnome.org/ThreePointZero/GoodiesRegistration must happen before February 15 and is here: https://live.gnome.org/ThreePointZero/LaunchPartyFor what it's worth BLUG (Beijing LUG) will be celebrating on their usual monthly meeting date which is Tuesday 12th.As a side note I'm also involved in the organization of the GNOME.Asia summit since 2008. We have been in Beijing, Ho Chi Minh City and Taipei so far, and we will be in Bangalore this year right before the launch with a lot of members from the GNOME release and marketing team to work on the launch too. Everyone is of course welcome to join, call for paper is out and the GNOME foundation is also providing travel subsidies to speakers (assuming you've been selected).Besides since every year we move around Asia, it'd be nice that one day we could work out a way to be in Japan as well.Thank you to spread the world on 'your island' about the parties and the goodies and hopefully we'll meet one day.Fred Beijing LUG
