This fstab line works for me (it's not automounted, though).  Forget
the brand, maybe IODATA (it's actually a multimedia device, but it was
*real* cheap).

//192.168.0.2/contents /mnt/HVL4 cifs uid=steve,gid=wheel,pass='' 

and that's all there was to it!
