Don't delete the old profile. Just use an empty profile for testing. If 
you can get it to work in an empty profile, then something in your main 
profile is screwed up. This is a pretty standard troubleshooting step 
for Firefox, and will tell you whether the problem is your Firefox 
installation, or something in your profile. If it is in the profile, 
then one possible next step would be to start installing your extensions 
into the empty profile, and then start copying settings. Do it 
incrementally until you find the extension or setting that causes 
undesired behavior. This type of troubleshooting takes a bit of time, 
but should lead you to find the problem.
