Well, isn't the whole point of Latex to distance you from your
presentation output?

You should only translate the text and not be bothered with the Latex
commands. Well unless there is a very complex package that you cannot
understand.
But my advice is to get the source (you have it), possibly with
dependencies (that is hard) and a final output in Japanese as a
compiled PDF for easy reading.
