Oh, that question has an easy but boring answer. Checkers, or "damspel" in Swedish, just isn't that common in Sweden. The only boards I've ever seen have been abroad. I have a small book somewhere on the basics of shōgi, but I haven't had the time or the gumption to buy or make a set. I do have a goban[1] and play from time to time, though, but as our legs aren't used to sitting seiza-style it doesn't happen as often as I'd want.
