You should probably read something less opinionated than slashdot, a
manpage is a good start.
You will still have text based logs if you like. And you'll have the
journal too.

Maybe if you're unsure you should try playing with systemd in a virtual
machine or something else that doesn't have a requirement for 24x7
uptime, just to get familiar with it.
