it off?

That's a "feature" that is triggered (I think) when you drag a window
over to the edge of the screen. I don't know how to turn off that
productivity-killer, but if you watch how and where you position
windows, it can be avoided. I think the idea (begun by that Wonderful
Company in Washington?) is that it's a quick way to get two windows
occupying exactly half (each) of the screen?

I managed to jiggle the mouse so as to hold a display of some stupid message, which contained a keyword, with which I found my way to something called "Window tiling" (or similar) and got rid of it. One out of two.

(2) Margins on printing.

I'm glad (sort of) that it's not only me who is struggling. I have a new problem: Firefox has set the default for printing to "Six pages per side" (or was it the other way round?) so at least the first time of the day I get a wasted sheet, and have to remember to turn it off every time I print something. I can't find anything in the menus or about:config. And another bizarre thing: I try obvious web searches for "Firefox settings printing pages" and things like that, and almost all of the pages that turn up are ancient. 2010 and earlier in most cases... why???

Now - as for *why* this is happening now.... At the convenience
stores, I find myself wondering if some middle-management scum came up
with the idea as a way of cutting toner costs and making more
Short-Term-Profits (G*d)..... Or maybe it's just due to people trying
to print photographs on 100% of the paper and the fix for that problem
is ruining everything else.

Hmm, in a post-truth society, idiocy trumps reason, and I prefer idiocy as an explanation for most of this. But thanks for the comments.
