This Tokyo Hackerspace meetup might be of interest to folks here:
Are you using Dropbox, Google drive or other proprietary sync or cloud
services to store and access your data ? What if you could replace
them with something open, trustworthy and decentralized ?
Syncthing is such an alternative. This open source client can securely
share and sync data between devices without it being stored on a 3rd
party provider.
- Synchronize file between your laptop, desktop and mobile device
- Share file securely with a group of people
Syncthing is not magic and like any solution it has pro and cons. I
believe it stand out due to it's overall design, security and relative
easy to use.

THS tends to be more hardware- than software-oriented, but I guess
anything to do with open design is fair game. This is also a chance to
get a look at the maker side of things if you want, whether it be
electronics, 3D printing, laser cutting, setting things literally on
fire, or whatever you're curious about. After the main presentation I
and any of the other members there will surely be happy to haul out
machines, boxes of gear and go on at length about whatever you're
interested in.
