Dear Steve, Thanks for your help. The distribution of GRASS Geographic Information system also says that the system should be Slackware 3.0 kernel 1.2.13 gcc 2.7.0 libc 5.0.9 flex 3.5.2 Does this mean that it is better that I upgrade my system with the most recent version of Linux. I am sorry for taking up your time with such trivial (may be for you) questions. Perhaps I have much more learning to do. Thanks raghavan@example.com
