Craig> Segmentation fault (core dumped) [root@example.com /root]# I've been getting lots of SIGSEGVs since I installed Moo-Tiff (the August 1995 version) and XFree86 3.1.2. Recompiling the programs makes the SIGSEGVs go away. Also, if you are actually getting core dumps, you can run gdb on the core file to find out where it faulted. (I don't know the syntax, sorry.) That should tell you whether it's an X function or a libc function or a user function. Craig> Without the index tables I can't use other programs like Craig> tkdict. Any ideas? Recompile the program on your own machine instead of using canned binaries; I've also gotten SIGSEGVs from programs that had problems with mismatches between pre-2.0 versions of file routines (especially file locking, which was apparently badly broken pre-2.0). Right now I think there are a lot of incompatibilities with pre-2.0 libraries and so on; I think there will probably be a fair number of gotchas in prebuilt binaries for a few months until people start rebuilding everything for ELF/2.0.x kernels and libc 5.2+.x and X11R6/Xfree86 3.1.2+ and so on.
