Printing Japanese

Well, I've got gs displaying and printing Japanese with this
script:

#!/bin/sh
echo Please Wait for Print Processing
/usr/local/bin/gs -dSAFER -dNOPAUSE -q -sDEVICE=ljet4 -r300x300 -sOutputFile=/dev/lp1 $*

I'm still puzzled by why my lpd keeps telling me that my printer
is not ready. It would be easier to use the print daemon instead
of saving it to a file.

Fonts are a little grainy. Is there a way to get better fonts?
I'm using the Wadalab mincho 8 set. They are readable, but not
as good as something printed from Windows '95-J. I think there
is some way to use the MS TrueType fonts, but I'm concentrating
on getting my lpd to work before fixing the aesthetics of the
fonts.

I also can't print Japanese home pages with graphics. This would
be a key thing to print. I used to be able to do this with Mosaic,
but I can't run the Mosaic l10n versions anymore because they
require a really old xt lib that I don't have. Perhaps there
is another way to print Japanese home pages with variable fonts
and graphics???

Anyway, I'm able to print Japanese docs under Linux, so I'm going
to stop now. The lack of lpd working is really annoying, but
shoganai.
