-------------------------------------------------------- tlug note from Jim Tittsler <jwt@example.com> -------------------------------------------------------- yhua> Do I have to do this every time I make a new yhua>server with Linux? Is it some kind of ritual? Why doesn't yhua>the system make dummy aliases file under /etc for us? yhua>Could anyone give me reasonable answer, please? The RedHat packaging method includes not only the various executables but also data files, at least in their most simple, stripped-down, example-style form. For example, the RedHat sendmail package does include such a "dummy aliases file" so that sendmail will do mostly the right thing as soon as the RPM is installed. Customization (including changing things like permissions from how the packager thought they should be) is then up to the user/ system administrator. -- Jim Tittsler, Tokyo 7j1ajh@example.com http://shrine.cyber.ad.jp/~jwt/ ----------------------------------------------------------------- a word from the sponsor will appear below ----------------------------------------------------------------- The TLUG mailing list is proudly sponsored by TWICS - Japan's First Public-Access Internet System.
