I played with it for only half an hour, and the settings weren't configured for my system, so don't take my comments as a comprehensive review of lg. First, yes, it has drag-and-drop capabilities. If configured properly, I think you could launch a program just by draging a data file. You can also group several files (data and/or programs) together, much like the program groups of Win3.1. Oh, there is also an icon representing the trash can. There is an icon bar, from where you can launch programs, set your preferences, repaint the desktop and empty the trash can. Another icon allows a system administrator to configure the system, with tools like those present in the Red-hat control-panel. Clicking on another button you can change to another pre-configured desktop layout (there are layouts for normal users, power users, system administrator, and custom ones). But what I liked most was the file browser. You can launch the program associated to a data file by double-clicking on it, and perform other operations on the file by right-clicking. With this, any Mac/Win95 user could migrate to Linux painlessly . --- Alberto Tomita, Jr. http://www.ishiilab.dnj.ynu.ac.jp/~Alberto Yokohama National University e-mail: alberto@example.com ----------------------------------------------------------------- a word from the sponsor will appear below ----------------------------------------------------------------- The TLUG mailing list is proudly sponsored by TWICS - Japan's First Public-Access Internet System.
