-------------------------------------------------------- tlug note from Jim Schweizer <schweiz@example.com> -------------------------------------------------------- Hi all, For some reason, the mail programs on my standalone dialup only Slackware box suddenly were not able to write to the /tmp directory. Ispell didn't work, XFmail and Netscape were unable to send the body of a mail message but could send the signature file and header - really wierd. Even after a reboot, the problem didn't go away. I chmod 0777 /tmp to get it working again (I'll mess around with more restrictive permissions tomorrow) but what the heck was that? Anyone seen anything like this before? Thanks, Jim S. ---------------------------------------------- Sent by: Jim Schweizer <schweiz@example.com> On: 26-Jun-97 at: 01:45:06 JST http://www1.harenet.or.jp/~schweiz/ Why did the Lord give us so much quickness of movement unless it was to avoid responsibility with? ---------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- a word from the sponsor will appear below ----------------------------------------------------------------- The TLUG mailing list is proudly sponsored by TWICS - Japan's First Public-Access Internet System.
