Hi,

I am one of the lucky guys at Saturday meeting, and now I am trying
to install Red Hat linux onto the IPC.

I bought Mini Din 8P plug and D-sub 9P plug, soldered them with
solid wires according to (what I believe) correct wiring.  I wonder
why I could not get any message from IPC to my Notebook (another
ancient IBM, PS/55).  As I also got a Mac serial cable from T-Zone
on the basement of Akihabara Radio Depart, I tried it with a PC
"Cross" serial cable and now I can get the message.

Well, I have connected a Toshiba CD-ROM drive, configured it as
SCSI ID6, and typed boot cdrom to the "ok" prompt (I need to type
"n" to get it).  Boot sequence starts.  Now, unfortunately, the
sequence stops half way.

The error messages are:

esp0: Disabling sync for buggy Toshiba CDROM.
esp0: Disableing DISCONNECT for target 6 lun 0
esp0: target 6 asynchronous
Device not ready.  Make sure there is a disc in the drive.
sr_photocd: ioctl error (TOSHIBA #1): 0x28000000
Device not ready.  Make sure there is a disc in the drive.
CD-ROM I/O error : dev 0b:00, sector 2
EXT2-fs: unable to read superblock
Device not ready.  Make sure there is a disc in the drive.

** I am sure the CD-ROM disc in is the drive.

I also tried floppy boot, but it also fails after some screenful of
message by clearing the screen and (seems) hangs.

The CDROM is from redhat "Power Tools" Linux, Summer '97, Disk 3.

Any suggestion would be highly appreciated.
