I have been trying to get an HPVectra VL to double-boot RH5 (lilo v.20) with NT4. This was no problem with Win 95, so I was very surprised when the double-boot came up with an "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE" error on NT4. After trying different partition structures and lilo configurations, I was still having no joy. It appears that there is a conflict between NTLDR, lilo, and greater than 4Gb disks. A report on the RedHat list stated that NT was now using a previously "reserved" part of the boot sector, and this was causing problems for lilo. Another RH5 user reported the identical problem with a different system ... the common factor was a 4Gb disk. I switched to a 2.5Gb disk for NT, and the loader is now working with no problems. The question I have now is did M$ do this with forethought or with no-thought. Cheers, -Joe.
