I don't think this is being used.  It might be, but I would
still think that you have a default .xsession somewhere.

That's not true.  In fact, I think it is better that way when
you log out, it leaves an X window log in for the next guy.
I find there are few (actually, unless I am installing X or
PJE, none) cases where I don't want X.  If each user has a .xsession
in their home directory, that will be used to set-up there
X window session when they log int.
