try:

telnet hostname 25

substitue your hostname for 'hostname'.  You'll get something like:

[sstone@example.com net]$ telnet ume 25
Trying 210.145.37.178...
Connected to ume.pht.co.jp.

in this case, I'm running 8.8.8, which I believe is the newest version.

Do you know where any of them are?  Preferably near Umegaoka (or
Shimo-Kitazawa, or Yoyogi-Uehara, or Kichijoji, or even Shibuya) ?
