Actually, thats the point. Its not just a simple switch statement, but
a whole bunch of nested ones, with goto's thrown in for fun!

For the person who wrote it, maybe there is nothing wrong, but for
anyone that has to maintain it, well, its a nightmare. Anyway, we got
out of that business :)

When it worked, it worked well, and was quite useful. On the down
side, it was also very good at generating core dumps.
