So ID 4 is the xdm runlevel in Slackware?  Ok, that's good to know.  How
about with Debian?

In TurboLinux and Redhat (info provided for reference) you have:

0 = shutdown
1 = single user
2 = single user w/ networking
3 = multi-user
4 = pretty much the same as 3 (unused for all practical purposes)
5 = xdm
6 = restart


If you really want to have fun with someone who's not too Linux savvy,
sneak over to their computer and change their inittab to have:

id:6:initdefault:
