I personally found A Practical Guide to Linux by Mark G. Sobell to be useful.  Not to mention Linus Torvalds wrote the foreword describing how he learned Unix from another of Mr. Sobell's books.  I bought mine from www.linuxmall.com, after finding that they have the best prices on Linux products.
