I am configuring my X with XF86Setup in tow different systems. In the first one, although I indicate a 800x600 resolution monitor as my choice, it just starts a 640x480. A quick look to the XF86Config file shows that there is no 800x600 mode defined. Moreover, the funny thing is that when I start xemacs or netscape, its window will be larger than the monitor, it splits along the virtual window...it gets tricky to resize it. Well, i think this is a windows manager problem In the second one, I just get a "Fatal server error: No valid modes found." although the XF86Config file seems okay to me. Seems I will have to go through the HOWTO (sigh). XF86Setup doesn't seem to be so performing. By the way, this programm proposes to start xvidtune at the end of the "configuration". xvidtune can fix things? thanks in advance. --------------------------------------------------------------- Next Nomikai: 15 May Fri, 19:30 Tengu TokyoEkiMae 03-3275-3691 Next TLUG Meeting: 13 June Sat, Tokyo Station Yaesu gate 12:30 Featuring Stone and Turnbull on .rpm and .deb packages --------------------------------------------------------------- a word from the sponsor: TWICS - Japan's First Public-Access Internet System www.twics.com info@example.com Tel:03-3351-5977 Fax:03-3353-6096 -------------------------------------------------------------- Next TLUG Meeting: 13 June Sat, Tokyo Station Yaesu gate 12:30 Featuring Stone and Turnbull on .rpm and .deb packages Next Nomikai: (?)
