Hi,
I've made some progress and decided to report what I've got in case someone
else is working on this.  I'm working only with xcopilot now and haven't
a clue as to how to load the kernel into a real pilot yet.  
If you want to try this, you don't need a real pilot, you can use the
emulator.

When I opened up the kit, there was a patch for kernel 2.0.33.  I applied
this and compiled the kernel with m68k-gcc.  I compiled the rest of the
pieces with libc5.  I couldn't get the ROM file system to compile with
glibc, but libc5 works.  It's a small program, but I don't want to get 
involved in it.  Anyway, all the parts compiled and I loaded the kernel into
the emulator. It boots and I get the Linux splash screen.  However, there
is a line of screen garbage about 1.5cm high in the center of the penguin.

I can get the debugger to work and can utilize that for command line commands.
Pretty nice.  However, I would like to use the LCD panel as the Linux
console.  I think there is a way to do this.  I'll give it another look
in a bit.
