Oops! I may have been mistaken yesterday when I wrote about Applix Spreadsheets that it was: > - changing my dates from European to American format without warning -- > i.e., transposing month and day numbers that could have been either -- > e.g. 03/12/98 -> 12/03/98. I found this horrifying (what other data > might it be mangling?), and it wasn't fixed when they released an > upgrade a few months ago. Hard to believe nobody told them. I said this without double-checking; since this is a very serious accusation to level at a spreadsheet, I thought I'd better make sure. Well, it turns out I can't reproduce the problem now. What I know for sure is that: - it happened several times last year, perhaps under special conditions that I don't remember now - in their release notes for the upgrade I installed, there was no mention of this problem; nor, in my brief search of the online info about Red Hat's Applix distribution, could I find any indication that anyone was aware of such a bug So maybe they fixed it. I guess if my spreadsheet had a bug like that, I would want to fix it quietly, with as few people as possible knowing it had ever existed. I'm sorry if I got anybody worried.
