Thanks to everyone for the suggestions concerning my harddisk. I am now running it in ``panic mode'', ie, all changes are backed up on a PD drive every hour by a cron job using `rsync'. (For everyone who didn't try rsync yet, it is an absolutely fabulous program -- kind of a rcp with more features, but it uses a `diff'-like algorithm to copy the minimal amount of data when the target files already exist.) Scott, I wonder why rsync is not on the TL distribution (though it is in contrib)? And from the posts it seems that IBM drives have a good reputation, so I probably will go for one. Thanks (Linux support, as always, is the best :-) Manuel --------------------------------------------------------------- Next Meeting: 10 October, 12:30 Tokyo Station Yaesu central gate Next Nomikai: 20 November, 19:30 Tengu TokyoEkiMae 03-3275-3691 --------------------------------------------------------------- Sponsor: PHT, makers of TurboLinux http://www.pht.co.jp
