I understand that MS products only speak >FB> DHCP (? not confident I've got this right). That's important, I think so. >RW> I'm pretty sure dhcpd can be configured to give a specific IP to a >RW> specific MAC address, but I've never done it. I have done it with BOOTP >RW> (which DHCP was based on). Yes, one stanza of my dhcpd.conf file looks like: host windup { hardware ethernet 00:10:57:00:26:4F; fixed-address windup.dskk.co.jp; } which makes sure the NetWinder always ends up with the same IP address. (For much the same reason that Frank mentioned... I wanted to make it trivial to figure out if the new kid on the network was causing trouble.) -- Jim Tittsler, Tokyo ICQ: 5981586 --------------------------------------------------------------- Next Nomikai: 20 November, 19:30 Tengu TokyoEkiMae 03-3275-3691 Next Meeting: 12 December, 12:30 Tokyo Station Yaesu central gate --------------------------------------------------------------- Sponsor: PHT, makers of TurboLinux http://www.pht.co.jp
