The change from or.jp to ne.jp is happening all over the Japanese Internet. In the early days, ISPs were routinely assigned or.jp domains; but the current plan is to have all network services companies adopt the ne.jp suffix, since they are not organizations in the intended sense. There are still some holdouts, notably Rimnet (xx.rim.or.jp). -- John De Hoog, Tokyo dehoog@example.com (not a real organization, nor very well organized) http://dehoog.org Jim Schweizer wrote: > > Hi all, > > This is a little off-topic, but most of you may find it interesting. > > I just noticed that two of the ISPs in Okayama are requiring that > users upload > their homepages again to the ISP's server because the server's > name will change > from *.or.jp to *.ne.jp > > Can someone explain the reasoning behind this? --------------------------------------------------------------- Next Nomikai: 20 November, 19:30 Tengu TokyoEkiMae 03-3275-3691 Next Meeting: 12 December, 12:30 Tokyo Station Yaesu central gate --------------------------------------------------------------- Sponsor: PHT, makers of TurboLinux http://www.pht.co.jp
