I installed TurboLinux 3.0J-beta 3 on it's own disk in my Linux box and told it not to install LILO and didn't set up any of the partitions for my main system in /etc/fstab at all, so nothing *should* have been touched. However, on boot lilo freezes up after printing LI. Right now, I'm booting from a sysboot disk. Running lilo now generates this message: Device 0x0302: Got bad geometry 63/0/787 Fdisk does report 0 heads for /dev/hda, and it reports that heads should be set. Apparently, some way, some how, something got hosed when I put the 3.0J beta on /dev/hdd. What incantation do I need to use to fix this? Thanks, Jonathan This is the partition table of /dev/hda: Disk /dev/hda: 0 heads, 63 sectors, 787 cylinders Units = cylinders of 1 * 512 bytes Device Boot Begin Start End Blocks Id System /dev/hda1 64 64 263088 131512+ 82 Linux swap /dev/hda2 1 263089 526176 131544 83 Linux native /dev/hda3 1 526177 12692736 6083280 5 Extended /dev/hda5 64 526240 1141056 307408+ 83 Linux native /dev/hda6 1008 1141120 1755936 307408+ 83 Linux native /dev/hda7 1008 1756000 3804192 1024096+ 83 Linux native /dev/hda8 1008 3804256 10767456 3481600+ 83 Linux native /dev/hda9 1008 10767520 12692736 962608+ 83 Linux native This is the partition table from /dev/hdd: Disk /dev/hdd: 64 heads, 63 sectors, 621 cylinders Units = cylinders of 4032 * 512 bytes Device Boot Begin Start End Blocks Id System /dev/hdd1 1 1 33 66496+ 82 Linux swap /dev/hdd2 34 34 621 1185408 83 Linux native This is the lilo.conf (unchanged) from the 2.0J system: boot=/dev/hda map=/boot/map install=/boot/boot.b prompt timeout=50 image=/boot/vmlinuz label=linux root=/dev/hda2 read-only ---------------------------------------------------------------- Next Nomikai: 20 November, 19:30 Tengu TokyoEkiMae 03-3275-3691 Next Technical Meeting: 12 December, 12:30 HSBC Securities Office ---------------------------------------------------------------- more info: http://tlug.linux.or.jp Sponsors: PHT, HSBC Securities
