Anyway, the disk that's having the problems is /dev/hda. /dev/hdd is fine. /dev/hda never had this problem until I installed a TurboLinux J beta on /dev/hdd (which has nothing but the beta on it), and then LILO was sick and the head count was getting reported as 0. > Here's what I do to play it safe: > Always partition hard disks with MS-Dos (pre-Win95) fdisk. Then use This is a 100% pure Linux machine, and I haven't had a copy of MS-DOS in years, so that's not really an option. One of the reasons I run Linux and on a separate machine is to also make the vagueries of other fdisks a non-issue. Now if I could only figure out what's wrong and fix it :-) Jonathan ---------------------------------------------------------------- Next Nomikai: 20 November, 19:30 Tengu TokyoEkiMae 03-3275-3691 Next Technical Meeting: 12 December, 12:30 HSBC Securities Office ---------------------------------------------------------------- more info: http://tlug.linux.or.jp Sponsors: PHT, HSBC Securities
