>telnet localhost 110 >If it gives you anything other than "Connection refused" you're running a >pop server. It would seem that i am. i got this response: Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. +OK DPOP Version 2.2i. <387.910693342@example.com> question one: what is this escape character '^]'. ? I know that this is probably some sort of ASCII interpitation of a command key + some other key combination, but which key would that be? question two: What, then, does the earlier error message i got (ERR DPOP Offline: (Expired key)) imply about what this POP server is doing? By the way, i learned from the NAG that MX stands for "mail exchanger", and told me a little about it. but i still haven't found out about "A records", as mentioned previously by Stephen. What are "A records"? ________________________________ Dave Gutteridge 3D Computer Animation Specialist e-mail: dave@example.com http://www.d-rave.com ________________________________ ---------------------------------------------------------------- Next Nomikai: 20 November, 19:30 Tengu TokyoEkiMae 03-3275-3691 Next Technical Meeting: 12 December, 12:30 HSBC Securities Office ---------------------------------------------------------------- more info: http://tlug.linux.or.jp Sponsors: PHT, HSBC Securities
