Even 14 Mbps is only slightly more than a 10BT ethernet, which the 486 will certainly be able to handle. (The 386 I'm not so sure about). Check out the linux router project: "http://www.linuxrouter.org/". The recommend a 486 with 12 MB for a 10BT ethernet router.
