tlug: Xwindows crashing

Good morning,

I recently installed Linux RedHat 5.1 and am having trouble with Xwindows.
I had it running at one point, and was setting the PPP configs when the
screen locked up. The only way I could get out of it was to reboot.

Ever since then, whenever I try to startx, I get a black (black) screen and
the machine locks up.
I went so far as to totally reinstall, and was surprised when I got the
same problem.

Has anyone had a similar thing happen before?
