Meanwhile I checked the HyperNews Forum for PCMCIA and it seems that somebody else had the same problem with a Toshiba Tecra 730xcdt - but nobody seemed to have any suggestions. I guess, I'd better compile pcmcia-cs with the debugging option enabled and have a look what is going on inside. (But this probably has to wait until I get back from a trip to the University of Technology Sydney.)
