I don't know for sure, but I still think you're OK. It's complaining it can't find out where / is (because the line has "ignore" in the 3rd column), so you need to tell it yourself. This includes the file system type, as I believe the default is not ext2. So how about mount -n -o remount,rw -t ext2 /dev/sda1 / If that doesn't work, I don't know what will.
