What I have been doing is this: Xnest has a fairly small footprint: USER PID %CPU %MEM SIZE RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND andy 8922 0.0 4.0 4772 2528 pc S 09:28 0:01 Xnest :1 -geometry 1145x849 -query chibi This should free up a fair amount of memory for you.
