You could try connecting via ftp; that way (if you can get in) you can do directory listings and offline editing. I think that tcpwrappers reads the hosts.* fiels every new connection, so if you change the telnet entries to let in your current IP address you should be OK. If you can't login by ftp as root (if you can, you should change that), you won't be able to replace the host.* files. You can try logging in as your normal user and make a .rhosts file (again, only for your current IP address) and try rlogin. Then su.... If that doesn't help, start thinking ,like a cracker. You have an advantage over J.
