tlug: Miscellaneous corruption

Dear all,

Apropos of nothing, really, but to tie off the earlier note I sent
about things going wonkey on my laptop.

The Japanese text display problem cleared up when I reinstalled gettext.
All of /usr/local/zoneinfo had gone away with the fairies, and restoring
that fixed some timekeeping problems.  Reinstalling sendmail fixed the
host name resolution complaints that fetchmail was returning.  A remaining
high-profile problem is loss of Japanese input; presumably this will come
back when Wnn6 is reinstalled from backup.

Long-term solution is still going to be total restore, after backing up
files written today and later.  Although it's a pain to untangle this,
it's actually been impressive to see the way the system hung onto life
after being abused in this way.
