YP> I am looking for information about how to use Linux with YP> the Cambodian Characters. Any suggestions will be YP> appreciated. YP> Yitong Phou I don't know any way to do this at the console level. Under X you may be able to use yudit (Gaspar Sinai's Unicode editor) if Cambodian scripts are included in the available fonts. I believe that Handa-san of ETL, the inventor of Mule, is currently working on a "Khmer" environment for "Khmer" script(s), so you can probably use Emacs 20.3 (or perhaps 20.4, the next release) for this purpose. If a display font is available, you would also be able to use the `ps-print' facility of Emacs/Mule to get medium-quality hardcopy based on the bitmap font. High quality output would probably depend on acquiring good Postscript or True-type fonts some other way (I suspect there are no good free ones); you could then use Ghostscript, Freetype, and VFlib in some combination to get good display and hardcopy. I am copying Handa-san, and hoping that he will be able to give you a positive answer. -- University of Tsukuba Tennodai 1-1-1 Tsukuba 305-8573 JAPAN Institute of Policy and Planning Sciences Tel/fax: +81 (298) 53-5091 __________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________ What are those two straight lines for?
