Stephen, 

I am glad you had a good chortle looking 
at my .config file. I have made the changes 
that you recommended and everything seems to 
be running fine. the size of the kernel (bz 
compressed) went from 702011 to 674263. I 
suppose that the system is using less memory, 
too, but haven't been able to see a difference. 

Thanks to Chris for suggestions regarding 
the sendmail.cf and Alberto & Drago for the 
wc tip.
