Hiya Grendel, Just a question... After you returned the CDROM and Floppy drive, did you try to boot up the Red Hat thingy? I'm not an expert or anything, but maybe there are some modules that are loaded during the boot up stage that goes into probing your drives( kinda had the same problem with a network card once ). IMHO, my advice would be to take a lot at the boot configuration file(sorry forgot the name..;-) ) and change some lines which involve doing a modprobe for IDE devices..;-) Hope that helps...;-) Cheers, John Clark ------------------------------------------------------------------- TLUG Akihabara Tour: October 23 (Sat), 13:00 Shosen Book Tower 2F Next Technical Meeting: November 13 (Sat), 13:30 place: Temple Univ. * Network Security speaker: Steve Baur Next Nomikai: December 17 (Fri), 19:00 Tengu TokyoEkiMae 03-3275-3691 ------------------------------------------------------------------- more info: http://www.tlug.gr.jp Sponsor: Global Online Japan
