Well, since Steve made it a point of honor ;-)

Since you didn't send the results of an lsmod I cant be sure of this,
likewise a copy of your .config will help in the future, never the less
judging from the errors you got it seems that you either don't have
parallel port support compiled into the kernel, or you forgot to load
parport.o (Hmm, since this is the parallel port zip, parallel port drivers
might be a good idea, plus a quick grep shows that the parport driver is 
exporting the symbol in question so...).
