<< Suggestions (and patches!) welcome. >> As I've suggested directly, I think if you're local anyway it makes sense to write a generic x-windows app, rather than an html filter. If you do stick with an html filter, you might be interested in using netscape's remote control stuff. netscape --help produces: -remote <remote-command> to execute a command in an already-running Netscape process. For more info, see http://home.netscape.com/newsref/std/x-remote.html My old prof Udi Manber (agrep fellow) used to use this all the time for these types of filters, so I know it works. You can tell a running netscape to save the file to disk, run your filter on it, and tell netscape to open the results file. Much simpler than a proxy. Still, having a little window which polls the x-selection (if there's no better way) should do the trick, no? cheers, Todd _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
